Recital Guidelines
and Information

Venue:

Unless otherwise specified, all recitals begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Sumner Presbyterian Church, 1915 Washington Avenue, Sumner.

Student Guidelines:

  • Choose pieces that are well-learned and from memory.

  • One half-hour before the start of the recital, supervised warming up and trying out of the piano is allowed.  These "warm-ups" will end ten minutes before the beginning of the recital.

  • Concert dress is appropriate.  Slacks or longer skirts and dresses.  NO Jeans. Long hair needs to be pulled back so it does not fall in front of your face.

  • Always bow when you hear applause, both before you perform and afterwards.

  • Remain for the entire recital to receive your certificate at the conclusion of the program.

  • Bring a plate of goodies to share at the reception.

General:

Please arrive between five and ten minutes early to allow time to check-in with the Recital Monitor and find your place with your family or teacher. It is disruptive to the performers as well as the audience to arrive late or leave early. Plan to stay for the duration of the program.

Be courteous to your fellow performers by sitting quietly in your place during a performance. No talking or whispering while someone is playing. Video recorders must be set up prior to the beginning of the recital. All cameras with or without flash may be used only when performers are bowing OR before/after the program.

We are looking forward to your participation in our Recital and hearing your musical offering. Best wishes as you carefully prepare your selection.
